2026 Healthy Kids Day! A DAY OF PLAY FOR LA (Sunday, April 26, 2026)

YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles

Bring BRIGHT smiles to the faces of children and youth! Volunteer at a sports activation or help us set-up our award-winning teen bands as they prepare to rock out and jam on the big stage! Help kids live out their dreams as a future professional athlete or simply encourage them to stay active and get moving. Help with set-up and clean-up or support with checking in volunteers and partners. Find your flow as a volunteer at HKD! Not only does it offer you an opportunity to give back, but it comes with a lot of fun, a fresh HKD Volunteer t-shirts, verification letter of hours served for your job, school, college application or internship and the satisfaction of knowing that kids are healthier, happier and more active, because of YOU! Come out to a DAY OF PLAY for LA and volunteer! Through our three integrated areas of impact – Healthy Living, Youth Development, Social Impact – the LA Y serves as the Center for Community Well-Being, dedicated to nurturing the full potential of individuals and communities across Los Angeles. On Sunday, April 26, 2026, join thousands of community members from the LA region in celebration of the 34TH Annual Healthy Kids Day®! As the Y’s largest national initiative, Healthy Kids Day® is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of kids and families. For over 30 years, the YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles has hosted free community Healthy Kids Day events designed to inspire children and families to stay active—both mentally and physically—throughout the summer and beyond. This year, we continue that tradition by showcasing how the Y helps build healthy, resilient kids through programs, services, advocacy, partnerships, social-emotional learning, and more. In 2026, we are excited to return to the LA Memorial Coliseum for another Day of PLAY for LA! Healthy Kids Day® is a free event, open to all! FROM CRADLE TO COMMUNITY WELL-BEING Healthy Kids Day® is one of the largest community-based health, sports and family events in Los Angeles. The YMCA’s Cradle to Community Well-Being Youth Development strategy aims to help youth reach their best outcomes for success through programs, services, initiatives, partnerships and advocacy; Healthy Kids Day serves as a pivotal stop on every child’s road to well-being.

The goals of Healthy Kids Day® are to: • Welcome families to the Y by creating pathways to belonging that encourage lifelong involvement—from cradle to community well-being. This event provides an opportunity for everyone in the Los Angeles region to have a positive YMCA experience that will change their lives and our collective community for the better. • Showcase the Y’s comprehensive Cradle to Community Well-Being programs, services, and initiatives while strengthening connections with current Y facility and family members. Through relationship-building, interactive activations, and engaging experiences, we ensure that every attendee can reconnect with their local Y after Healthy Kids Day® (Another Day of Play). • Inspire every child, youth, teen, and young adult to leave with a deeper sense of belonging, achievement, and connection—empowered to become Y ambassadors in their local communities. • Address the social determinants of health – belonging, education equity, civic engagement, economic stability, health equity – by connecting individuals across the Los Angeles region to community partners and resources; the aim is to increase equitable access to preventative care, youth development, exercise, and healthy living programs while also providing support for healthy food access, mental health care, and other vital services in all neighborhoods throughout the Los Angeles region. • Engage youth, families, and community members in volunteer opportunities where they can be well, do good, and lead change, sharing the Y’s values of good character, equity, inclusion, and community strengthening. • Encourage children, youth, and families to stay active throughout the summer with support from the LA Kings, LA Clippers, LA Dodgers, LA28, U.S. Soccer Foundation and other sports organizations. Give kids and the community a sense of pride and anticipation as we prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, 2027 Super Bowl LXI, and 2028 Summer Olympic and Paralympic games.
