Game Changers Needed – Volunteer as a Youth Sports Coach! At the Pasadena - Sierra Madre YMCA, youth sports are about more than wins and losses—they’re about building confidence, teamwork, and lifelong healthy habits. As a volunteer coach, you’ll make a lasting impact on young athletes while creating memories that last a lifetime. No prior coaching experience is required—bring your energy, positivity, and a desire to help kids grow and thrive. The Y provides training, resources, and ongoing support. All volunteers must complete background checks and mandatory training on child abuse and bullying. As part of the YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles’ Center for Community Well-Being, youth sports directly aligns with our vision of helping every child Be Well, Do Good, and Lead Change. Volunteering at the Y means you’re not just teaching sports—you’re nurturing resilience, belonging, and lifelong well-being. Why Volunteer? Teach teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship. Be a positive role model for youth in your community Share your love of the game and inspire kids to discover theirs Build friendships and connections with families and fellow coaches Make a difference—on the field, on the court, and beyond Volunteer Requirements: Coaches & Assistant Coaches: Must be 18+ Teens 16–17: May volunteer with parent/guardian consent as court attendants or scorekeepers Commitment: 6–8 weeks per season
